Review

Gordian Knot Rip Pack 0.35 is a package of tools to encode DivX and XviD files.

The program installs itself, and a variety of codecs and auxiliary program to perform ripping and encoding of video files.

The programs that the package installs include Nandub, VirtualDubMod, BeSweet, azidts, DGIndex, vStrip_gui and AviSynth.

The program requires DVDDecrypter, but that program is not included. You must download and install it yourself.

You can rip VOB files from a DVD by using the "Ripping" tab. You will need to have DVDDecrypter installed to use this feature, and follow the on screen instructions.

You can also rip files saved in your Hard Disk. This will use the vStrip utility, already installed by Gordian Knot.

You can do this first two steps automatically by checking the "Rip & Prepare VOBs in one pass" box.

You will need then to prepare the VOBs (GK will use DGIndex for that).

Should you want to add subtitles, you may choose the "Subtitles" tab and follow the instructions to use VobSub.

You can set the bitrate using the "Bitrate" tab, and the resolution with the "Resolution" tab. You may encode avi files to DivX using the "Encode" tab.
Advantages
  • It´s a complete free package to process video files.
Disadvantages
  • None.
